The 38th Scientific Assembly of COSPAR, the committee on space research and associated events will take place at the Fair and Congress Center Bremen in the German Hanseatic city on July 18 through July 25 2010.

The organizers expect 2,500 scientists at the international biennial event, which covers all aspects of space research and technology.

Abstracts for the scientific assembly must be submitted online by February 19, 2010. The scientific program overview is posted at the website below. The chair of the scientific program committee is Tilman Spohn (Germany)

Of particular interest to Inside GNSS readers is "Scientific Applications of Galileo and Future Global Navigation Satellite Systems," the topic of a special issue of the COSPAR journal, Advances in Space Research (ASR) scheduled to be published late in 2010.  These abstracts are due on March 1, 2010. Contact guest editor Pascal Willis for more information.

COSPAR was established by the International Council of Scientific Unions in 1960 as a neutral forum for space scientists during the Cold War. Now its primary focus is the scientific assembly and other events for scientists to present new research, exchange ideas, and discuss space research problems. It also advises various international decision-making bodies on space research issues.
