IEEE, the world's largest professional engineering organization, through its Aerospace and Electronics Systems Society (AESS), and the Institute of Navigation (ION) sponsor the Position Location and Navigation Symposium, PLANS 2008, now going on at the Hyatt Regency Monterey, California.

The focus at the event is on electronic system technologies and applications which are operationally important now, and on those new developments that will affect the future use of navigation.

PLANS is a biennial technical conference that occurs in the spring of even numbered years. One day is dedicated to tutorials and three days to technical sessions.

The tutorials cover a range of subjects for beginners and seasoned professionals from core navigation fundamentals to in-depth classes about the latest technologies.

The twenty-four half-day technical sessions include:

GNSS/INS Integration
Timing Algorithms and Applications
Pedestrian Personal Navigation, First Responders
GNSS Signal Processing: acquisition, tracking and performance analysis
Inertial Technology
Aircraft Applications
Indoor/Personal navigation
Multipath-characterization, Mitigation and Exploitations of Multipath
Testing of INS, GNSS and Integrated Systems
Agriculture and Robotics
Vision Lidar Integration
Precise Positioning
Space Navigation Sensors, Algorithms
Terrestrial Radionavigation
Receiver and Sensor Hardware
Subsea and Surface Marine Navigation Sensors and Systems
Land Vehicle Navigation
GNSS Modernization
Inertial Sensor Integration
Unmanned Airborne Vehicles
Weak Signal Processing
